My name is Nancy Rapp, and I am a Social Studies teacher at South Davie Middle School in Mocksville, North Carolina. The 2012-2013 school year was my first year of teaching, though I had been a substitute teacher within Davie County for almost two years while I completed my licensing requirements. I also have been a dance instructor since 2008, and can teach dance styles ranging from ballet to tap to hip hop.
My Advanced Placement Physics teacher was the first person to tell me that I would make a good teacher due to my comfort speaking in front of the room. My schooling had been nothing but a positive experience for me, and I was eager to maintain a school environment throughout my career. Though all teachers surely say this, I love working with children--whether it be instructing the curriculum or the daily chit-chat that I enjoy each day.
I am licensed to teach grades K-12 and would truly be happy teaching any of those years. I majored in History at Wake Forest, thus, Social Studies is my specialty in the upper grades. My favorite aspect of teaching Social Studies is that I find great flexibility in being able to incorporate language arts, critical thinking, the arts, etc. I do not feel confined within my subject matter and continuously try to develop new and engaging ways to present the material.
In my spare time, I try to spend as much time as possible with my friends and family. I also enjoy teaching dance, baking/cooking, and reading.
